NOMA is seeking ideas for the invigoration and infusion of community led design and economic development for urban spaces in Southwest Detroit. The design problem requires in-depth research of historical site conditions as well as an understanding of the current social, cultural, economic, and physical space conditions found in this unique community. Designers must also understand the entrepreneurial spirit of the current citizens and envision solutions that will support sustained and enhanced economic development in Southwest Detroit, an area that has been severely under-resourced for several decades. Successful planning and architectural design solutions must address how the identity and physical spaces of the city/neighborhood may be reinvented to optimally leverage Michigan Avenue’s Corktown District.

The ball will be held at the world's largest institution dedicated to the African American experience! The Charles Wright Museum of African American History provides learning opportunities, exhibitions, programs and events based on collections and research that explore the diverse history and culture of African Americans and their African origins. Founded in 1965, this 125,000 square foot museum is located in the heart of Midtown Detroit's Cultural Center.

At this year’s Bros Arts Ball, we are planning to bring back the Masquerade element of the party. We are also planning to incorporate Monte Carlo Night, consisting of gaming tables around the perimeter of the room. Party-goers will try their hand at roulette, blackjack, poker and other exciting games of chance and skill. Monte Carlo “Funny Money” can be purchased and used. The setup will be e an elegant mini-Casino, complimentary local gourmet food, wine tastings and a full Funny Money Cash Bar. Winnings can be redeemed for prize coupons used to enter drawings for gifts and prizes.
